Hair Sculpture

Someone once told me that my hair bun resembled a bird nest. What they didn't know, was that all though a bird nest may not be the hottest hairtyle example, editors of the latest book Hair'em Scare'em would. Hat hair, drapes, sea of braids... there is nothing that hair stylists in this book haven't though of.

Mixtape: There's Magic In the Air

There's something kind of wonderful about creating your own project. Call it the substitute boyfriend. A photo gig, a film, an animation, a painting. It's like love- except it doesn't kiss you back. The sleepless nights spent thinking about it. The butterflies in your stomach on the first shoot day. That special feeling you get once it's all put together, or the whistles and claps from your proud friends when you screen the final version for the first time.

It's kind of hard to imagine a love substitute, but the art project certainly is the next best thing. It will replace the emotional excitement we inevitably yearn in life, however it probably won't replace the fireworks type of magic we find when we fall in love.

Luke Snellin's short film Mixtape, encompasses that magic. Nominated for a BAFTA, Snellin embraces the wonderful innocence of young love which will inevitably warm your heart.

Lipstick Jungle

If taking photographs of beautiful models aren't in my stars, I would consider myself lucky to create fantasy-type images of shoes, lipstick and purses. Mat Maitland work is to be worshiped.

You Are Beautiful

In a time of gloom & doom, art installations such as the Chicago based artists behind You Are Beautiful really just make me want to jump out of my unemployed gloominess, hug my roommate and tell her that everything is going to be okay.

Totally Washed Out

TORO Y MOI, pop/experimental artist from South Carolina has this amazing futuristic sound with a splash of R&B. He's from the same scene as Washed Out- another awesome artist I hope to hear more about.

Over-exposed: Marcelo Gomes

Based in New York, Brazilian photographer Marcelo Gomes (big clients like Urban Outfitters and New York Mag) makes over-exposed photographs looks stylish and beautiful, while toying with voyeurism. I particularly enjoyed his website. There is something incredibly satisfying about being able to move his images with my mouse. Interacting with voyeurism perhaps? See for yourself. And for the record, I have that dress!

Underwired' Hottest Geeks of 2009

Hot geeks are cool. Wired.com's blog Underwire is hosting a vote for 2009's sexiest Geek. Other then the random porn stars with a Geek-like hobby (dildo, PS2 remote... patato, patah-to), some of my favorite candidates are Samantha Youssef, animator and director at Ubisof (and a fellow Montrealer) and Google's Vice president & on Fortune's top 50 most powerful women in the world, Marissa Mayer. Well done ladies!
